While the reasons vary, the consistent answer is that the first-mover advantage is hard to overcome. In just two years, Kia has crossed the five lakh cars mark in terms of sales. It is faster than VW, Ford, GM, Honda and Toyota. Its July sales are up 47 percent from last year and have outperformed the industry. Last year, VW sold about 30,000 cars, Honda 80,000 and Nissan about 37,000 cars. Kia which has arrived here after at least 10 years, sold 2.2 lakh cars if not more than all of the above. how did it?
