BJP leader Kirit Somaiya’s wife Medha Somaiya on Monday filed a civil defamation case against Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and the latter sought Rs 100 crore as damages, accusing the couple of wrongdoing and indulging in a “toilet scam”. Medha Somaiya demanded that the court direct Raut to either pay Rs 100 crore to him or deposit the amount in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
She said that Raut repeatedly made defamatory statements against her and her husband in public, especially regarding their alleged involvement in the Rs 100 crore toilet scam. It also demanded that as an interim relief, Raut be restrained by the High Court from making any public statement against him and his family members. The HC is yet to fix the date of hearing of the case.
