Kochi Metro starts passenger survey

Kochi Metro has started passenger survey to assess what commuters need.

The survey in Google form has been made available on the website of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) and social media platforms of the metro company.

A communication said the survey is open to all existing and potential passengers of the Metro train service. It was designed to understand the needs of the commuter to improve the operation of Kochi Metro. KMRL Managing Director Loknath Behera said that this survey is the first step towards taking the number of Metro commuters to two lakh by November this year.

new feature

Pitjack, a train-lifting facility, was inaugurated by Mr Behera at Kochi Metro’s Muttom depot. This device installed under the floor is capable of lifting the metro train without disassembling the different metro cars at once. The facility will be used for underframe inspection and repair of the train with ease and speed.

The mechanism consists of six bogie supports, 12 car body supports and a control panel. Once the train is lifted, bogie removal, removal and replacement of equipment under the frame can be done easily, a release said. After lifting the train, individual bogies can be de-loaded and replaced without any other support facility. JACK was established by a German firm, Messrs Windhof Bahn- und Enlagentechnik GmbH.
