Kovid-19 third wave: 50% of Rajya Sabha officers will work from home till 31 January

As over 400 Parliament staffers tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, the Upper House (Rajya Sabha) allowed 50% of the officers below the rank of Under Secretary/Executive Officer to work from home till January 31. allowed to do. The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has restricted staff attendance. Disabled people and pregnant women are exempted from coming to the office.

In addition, all official meetings will be held virtually amidst the alarming rise of COVID-19 cases in the country.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday reviewed the situation and directed to take necessary measures to contain the spread of the virus among the officers and staff of the Secretariat ahead of the Budget session.

On Sunday, out of 1,409 staff members of Parliament, 402 staff members tested positive. All samples have been sent for genome sequencing to confirm the oomicron type.

According to an internal message from the employees of Parliament, the employees are advised to follow the precautions as per the guidelines of the government.

An internal message read, “There is a consolidated list of 69 and 133 attached staff from 200 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha who have tested positive, but we all need to take due precautions.”
