Kovid vaccination for age group 5-12: NTAGI likely to meet again on Wednesday

The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) will meet again on May 4 to review the data on COVID-19 vaccines for the age group 5-12. This comes after the last meeting of the government panel on the issue remained inconclusive. NTAGI had earlier met on Friday

Last week, India’s drug regulator DCGI granted emergency use authorization for Biologics E’s COVID-19 vaccine Corbevax for people aged five to 12 years and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin for children aged six to 12 years. . After this, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, “The decision (on vaccination for the age group 5-12) will be taken on the basis of the recommendation of an expert committee.”

However, the NTAGI meeting on Friday remained inconclusive regarding strengthening SOPs and detailed guidelines for vaccination.
