KRRS will protest outside Chief Minister’s residence on July 11

Members of the Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha will protest outside Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s residence on Monday, demanding that the government direct sugar mills to clear their dues and fix a state advisory price (SAP) of Rs 4,500 per tonne of sugarcane.

Union District President Nagendra Tambe told reporters here on Friday that the government was ignoring the issue of long pending dues of sugarcane growers and refusing to take any action against defaulting sugar mills.

He alleged that sugar mills were buying the product at a price lower than the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) fixed by the Centre.

Mr Tambe urged the state government to instruct the district authorities to intervene and clear the dues.
