Ravi said that an archaeological survey should be conducted at the Jamia Masjid to prove that the mosque was built by Tipu Sultan over the Hanuman temple. He further said that if the survey reveals the truth then the Congress should accept the fact that Tipu was a bigot.

“There is a Kote Anjaneya temple which has been converted into a mosque, let the archeology department survey it, if there is any evidence of the temple then they should accept the fact that Tipu was a fanatic, if not, we will apologise.” ” Ravi said.

Karnataka BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel had earlier courted controversy by saying that the staunch followers of Tipu Sultan should not live and the descendants of the former ruler should be driven into the forests.
