Kuki tribal militant leader killed

The Kuki tribal militant leader identified as Letingthang Haokip, the Commander-in-Chief of the outlawed Socialist Democratic Front of Kukiland, was killed in a fierce encounter in Churachandpur district on Friday.

Police sources said that based on specific information about the presence of some armed militants, a joint team of 46 Assam Rifles personnel and personnel from Churachandpur district police headquarters reached the spot around midnight.
