Lakhimpur violence: Court rejects second bail plea of ​​Union minister’s son Ashish Mishra

The district court on Friday rejected the second bail application of Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.

According to Senior Prosecution Officer (SPO) SP Yadav, his lawyer Awadhesh Singh on Friday filed the second bail application in the court of in-charge Chief Judicial Magistrate Mona Singh.

According to Yadav, while rejecting the bail application for the gravity of the offence, the court in the order said that there were no sufficient grounds for granting the petition.

Court allows addition of ‘attempt to murder’

The bail plea was filed after the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court on December 14 granted permission to the Special Investigation Team probing the case. Add section 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) in the FIR.

It had also allowed the SIT to invoke Section 3/25/30 read with Section 35 of the Arms Act, which was not part of the original FIR lodged against Ashish and 12 others.

The court had also allowed the SIT probing the case to quash IPC sections 279, 338 and 304A from FIR No 219, which pertained to the deaths of four farmers and a local journalist.

eight people including four farmers and journalists, were killed in the violence at Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3, when a group of farmers were staging a protest against Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s visit to the native village of MoS Ajay Mishra for a function.
