“Through WAL radar is being used successfully, and a search and rescue dog is being employed to assist,” he said.

So far 13 Territorial Army personnel and five civilians have been safely rescued. He said bodies of 18 Territorial Army personnel and six civilians were recovered.

“The search is on for 12 missing Territorial Army personnel and 26 civilians,” he said.

The spokesman said the bodies of 14 personnel, including a junior commissioned officer, were sent to their hometowns by two Indian Air Force aircraft and an Army helicopter.

The body of a jawan was sent by road to Kangpokpi district of Manipur.

The spokesman said full military honors were given to the deceased personnel in Imphal before the bodies were sent to their destination.
