Large scale illegal sand transport in Kerala: Mangaluru MLA | Mangaluru News – Times of India

Mangaluru: East Karnataka minister and Mangaluru MLA UT Khadar has said that despite Dakshina Kannada Illegal sand is being transported in Kerala with the Kovid-19 restrictions of the district administration and strict vigil on the border.
The Congress leader told reporters on Tuesday that RT-PCR negative report is mandatory for people of Kerala to enter Dakshina Kannada. However, there is no restriction for those transporting sand illegally in Kerala, Khader said, questioning the alleged inaction of the district administration.
“The sand is being taken to Kerala in trucks without permits,” Khadar said.
He suggested that the state government should prepare full proof COVID-19 guidelines.
“Let the government formulate guidelines which can be implemented effectively. The district administration and health departments of Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod should convene a coordination meeting,” the MLA said.
On 108 ambulance services, Khadar said that the district is facing shortage of staff. “Due to shortage of adequate number of nurses and drivers, services of 108 have been affected in the district. No new appointments have been made and the vehicles which were leased on rental basis have stopped services as they were not paid,” he said.
On COVID management, the MLA said that the government has launched five mobile applications for the convenience of ASHA workers, but has not provided them with smartphones.
