Form of words:

Chandigarh: Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu has written to Sonia Gandhi highlighting the issues on which the state government “must work” and sought a meeting with her to present its 13-point agenda, which will be called by 2022. to be included in the election manifesto.

In a letter to the Congress president on October 15, a day after he held a meeting with senior party leaders in Delhi, Sidhu said this was Punjab’s “last chance for revival and redemption”.

Days after resigning as Punjab Congress chief, Sidhu on October 15 said his concerns had been resolved and the party said he would continue as the state unit chief. The proposal came after he met cricketer-turned-politician Rahul Gandhi and raised his concerns.

The letter to Sonia Gandhi reminded her of the party’s 18-point agenda that was “delivered to the last Chief Minister of Punjab” and said they were “as relevant today”.

“Today, I write to your esteemed self with the priority areas among the 18-point agenda of the 2017 campaign and manifesto promises that the state government must fulfill.”

Sidhu then said that the people of Punjab demand justice for the 2015 police firing at Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan in Faridkot following the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib during the previous SAD-BJP regime.

On the issue of drugs, the Punjab Congress chief said, “The big fish mentioned in the STF report should be immediately arrested and punished severely.”

He also wrote that the state government should reject the Centre’s “three black agricultural laws” by “declaring that they will not be implemented in Punjab at any cost”.

Sidhu said in the letter that the state government should issue a white paper on power purchase agreements and cancellation of “all faulty PPAs made by us”.

“Thus, I request you to kindly consider these points and direct the state government to act immediately in the best interest of the people of Punjab,” he wrote.

In the letter, Sidhu sought a meeting with Sonia Gandhi to present her the Punjab model with a 13-point agenda to be part of the Congress manifesto for the 2022 assembly elections.

The Punjab Congress chief devised a “13-point agenda” apart from the manifesto through his long-term vision to implement “in a long term, through years of consultations with academicians, civil society, party workers and from feedback”. Told differently. People of Punjab”

Sidhu had posted his resignation as the state unit chief on Twitter on September 28. He was not happy with the appointment of a new Punjab Police Chief and Advocate General, besides some portfolio allocation to ministers after the formation of the new cabinet.

During a meeting with senior Congress leaders KC Venugopal and Rawat, the Punjab Congress leader had expressed his concern over the 18-point agenda raised by the leadership, on which action is pending.

These include action against those involved in sacrilege and drug mafia.
