Kolkata:

Late RSP veteran and former West Bengal minister Kshiti Goswami’s daughter Vasundhara Goswami, who created a ruckus by naming a Trinamool candidate in the upcoming Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections, on Saturday said she firmly believes that Mamata Banerjee’s party is capable. To thwart BJP’s communal politics

He said that this is the reason why he accepted the offer to contest the KMC elections to be held on December 19.

Ms Goswami, a Left student activist from her college days, was on Friday nominated by a Trinamool candidate from ward number 96 in South Kolkata.

“I am contesting the civic polls as a Trinamool Congress candidate because I firmly believe that Mamata Banerjee can oust and challenge the BJP,” she told reporters on Saturday.

Ms Goswami had earlier criticized the CPI(M)’s decision to take disciplinary action against Ajanta Biswas, daughter of late party leader Anil Biswas, for writing in the Trinamool Congress mouthpiece “Jago Bangla” and called it “unfair”.

Kshiti Goswami, who was also the national general secretary of the RSP from 2018-2019, was the state’s PWD minister for over two decades during the Left Front rule in the state but never shied away from criticizing the ruling government on various issues ranging from Singur Were.
