Lebanon forms new government, for the first time in a year – Times of India

Beirut: Lebanon’s president says a new government has been formed, breaking a 13-month impasse that has seen the country plunge into financial chaos and poverty.
Lebanon Has been without a fully empowered government since the devastating explosion on August 4, 2020 Beirut port, which forced the resignation of the then prime minister Hassan Diaboof government.
Rival political groups have since been locked in a disagreement over the formation of a new government, accelerating the country’s economic downturn.
New government led by billionaire businessman Najib Mikati was announced on Friday by office of President Michelle Aun, which states that the decree has been signed.
