Led by Nikhil Kamath, YIPP raises ₹50 cr to build a model school

In a first of its kind initiative, the startup founders of Young Indian Philanthropic Pledge (YIPP) led by Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath and Accel founder Prashant Prakash have collectively taken the initiative. 50 Crore YIPP signs a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Karnataka Education Department to convert 105 schools in four districts and its co-located Anganwadi/Preschools as “Model Schools” by 2025 to make Model Schools have done.

The initiative calls on leading ed-tech companies to use their technologies beyond urban areas to impact learning outcomes for rural communities, enhance student enrollment and retention, physical and digital schooling by building faculty capacity. Will work to incorporate progress in using technologies. Infrastructure, holistic education, employment readiness skills and community engagement in government schools.

YIPP will join hands with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a global philanthropic foundation, to provide a funding 50 crores over a period of three years.

The first project in the series to be launched by YIPP, the signatories, all under the age of 45, will pledge 25% of their assets with minimum expenses 1 crore per year.

Prashant Prakash said, “The program will be delivered in collaboration with 10 organizations whose sole objective is to mobilize the efforts of civil society otherwise working in silos and deep national and international expertise towards improving the quality of education in Karnataka. should bring.”

Kamath said, “Education is at the core of most of the solutions our society needs today, as access to a different lineage of education is bound to create inequality and inequality. and hopes to provide government schools with the tools to take on private schools.”
