Legal Advisor to Kerala Governor, Chancellor’s Standing Counsel to resign

Both of them were representing the Governor of Kerala in the court.

Kochi:

The legal advisor to the Kerala governor and the standing counsel for the chancellor of the state universities on Tuesday resigned from their respective posts.

Senior advocate K Jaju Babu, who was appointed as Honorary Legal Adviser to the governor in February 2009, and advocate MU Vijayalakshmi, who served as the Chancellor’s standing counsel, vacated their respective posts.

They are both from the same law firm – Babu and Babu – and were representing the governor in the Kerala University Senate as well as the Kerala High Court in connection with the action taken by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan against Vice. Chancellor of 11 universities of the state.

In his letter to the Governor, Jaju Babu said, “For reasons known to you as well, the time has come for me to step down. Thank you very much for the opportunities for professional and personal growth that you have given me as an Honorary Legal. Consultant, even during your tenure.

“I also express my deepest gratitude to the Principal Secretary, Kerala Raj Bhavan and the entire staff for the teamwork in handling all legal matters during these years.” Vijayalakshmi had also informed the Governor to step down in similar terms.
