Leroy Sane double five-star keeps Bayern Munich perfect, beats Marseille Sporting. Football News – Times of India

Paris: Leroy Sane scored twice as Bayern Munich I continued my flawless run Champions League with a 5-0 win over Group C rivals Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday.
But Group D leaders Sporting Lisbon paid for goalkeeping errors in a 4–1 loss at Marseille that gave the French team their first win of the campaign.
Against Inter in Milan and against Barcelona at home, Bayern has overcome the absence of Joshua Kimmich and Thomas Muller, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.
With nine points, Julian Nagelsmann’s side have almost booked their ticket for the knockout stage, with rivals Inter Milan and Barcelona facing off on Tuesday and next week.
German international Sane hit from distance seven minutes after a passive Czech defence, adding another five minutes after the break.
Between Sane’s two goals, Serge Gnabry added a second in 13 minutes after a counter-attack led by Alfonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Leon Goretzka, before Sadio Mane scored Bayern’s third goal after 21 minutes.
It was the first goal of the former Liverpool forward Mane with the German giants in the Champions League.
Mane then set up Sane to top the Champions League scorers chart with four goals, ahead of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski, who have three each.
Substitute Eric Maxim Chopo-Motting came off the bench at half time and added a fifth just before the hour mark.
Six-time European champions Bayern created Champions League history by going unbeaten in 31 consecutive group games.
In Marseille, Igor Tudor’s men took their first win in Europe this season and just their second win out of 18 previous meetings in the competition.
Playing behind closed doors at the Velodrome Stadium after the events against Eintracht Frankfurt, Marseille fell just 51 seconds behind after a quick-fire Francisco Trincao goal.
Tudor was furious, showing his displeasure at a 20-minute delay to kickoff after the Sporting players’ bus was stuck in traffic and Jonathan Kloss was injured.
But with errors from Sporting’s veteran Spanish goalkeeper Antonio Aden, Croatia quickly forgot the start of the nightmare, gifting the hosts two goals.
Adnan completely missed the first two clearances, allowing Alexis Sanchez (13th) and Amin Harit (16th) to score. Then he received a red card for an incomprehensible hand outside his field (23rd).
His replacement Franco Israel did no better, missing out on a corner, scoring a goal from Leonardo Ballerdi (28th), before conceding Chancellor Mbemba (85th).
The Uruguay goalkeeper is now under pressure to replace the automatically suspended Aden in the return match on 12 October.
