“Like Karnataka…”: Maharashtra’s Opposing Parties Plan To Compete With BJP In 2024

Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Maharashtra unit chief Jayant Patil on Sunday said that the BJP’s humiliating defeat in the Karnataka assembly elections is encouraging for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra. The MVA will bring together the smaller parties and jointly challenge the voter parties in the 2024 general elections.

After attending the MVA meeting at NCP chief Sharad’s residence ‘Silver Oak’ in Mumbai, Patil claimed that the alliance (MVA) is preparing a ‘farmhouse’ for seat-sharing ahead of the House elections and the Maharashtra assembly elections due later next year. ‘ will draw.

The MVA comprises the BJP (UBT), the Congress and the NCP. Other MVA leaders including BJP (UBT) and state Congress chief Nana Patole attended the meeting.

Jayant Patil said, “Like in Karnataka, I rate that the MVA will win the confidence of the people in Maharashtra as well and will work with a much higher profile.” He said that the MVA leaders have decided to hold talks with other smaller parties They are hoping to give a sustained fight to the current regime in 2024.

“The meeting of the trio constituents of the MVA will work out the seat-sharing formula ahead of the 2019 and assembly polls,” Patil said. “We are starting slowly and gradually.”

He said that the public meetings called ‘Vajramooth’ of MVA are in the present condition, but these are re-organised arrangements after the decrease in temperature. Patil said that these public gatherings can go in June and if the rainy season has started, we will lock them inside the closed places.

It is noteworthy that the results of the Karnataka elections were declared on Saturday. In the 224-member assembly, Congress won 135, BJP 66 and JD(S) 19 seats.
