After a 0–2 loss against Jordan in a friendly game, India The national football team’s head coach Igor Stimac said the team would work on getting Liston Colaco, Udanta Singh and Rahul Bheke back for their next assignment.
The trio of Liston, Udanta and Rahul missed the match against Jordan at Qatar SC Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Saturday.

Reflecting on the match, Stimac said that the boys were good for most of the game but could not score and that as a team they would try to resolve some issues in their defence.
“We were compact with good energy throughout the 90 minutes, looking to score first while keeping Jordan under pressure in the second half,” the coach said.
“The boys were good throughout the game, and I’m sorry we couldn’t score earlier. That would definitely have helped. There are some issues on the defense front that we faced and that needs to be changed.”
The match against Jordan was the third international match for the Blue Tigers in the past two months, having played Bahrain and Belarus in the March FIFA International window. The Indian team will land in Kolkata on Tuesday morning where it will train for the Asian Cup China 2023 Final Round Qualifiers.
“We go back to Kolkata from Doha as per our schedule, where we will train a week before we play our first match in the qualifiers. We intend to finalize (plans) on resuming our training sessions, and will work to bring Liston, Udanta and Bhike back into the squad,” Stimac said.
India has been clubbed with Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Cambodia in Group D of the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Final Round Qualifiers. The leg, starting June 8, will be played at Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan in June, in which India will take on Cambodia. India’s next two matches against Afghanistan on 11 June and Hong Kong on 14.
The 24 participating teams are divided into 6 groups with six group winners and the best five second best teams earning tickets to the AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
