Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur safe return win in FA Cup

Liverpool came down one goal for a 4-1 win against third-tier Shrewsbury Town in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday, while Tottenham Hotspur beat Morecambe 3-1 after a fighting performance in the second half.

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho scored twice, including a first-half penalty, while Kaid Gordon and Roberto Firmino also made it to the scoresheet for the Merseyside club.

Shrewsbury’s Daniel Udoh slid over Nathanael Ogbeta’s cross in the 27th minute to give the visitors a close goal, but Liverpool winger Gordon equalized seven minutes later with a quiet end.

Brazil international Fabinho scored a penalty before halftime, sending off Shrewsbury keeper Marco Marosi the wrong way, before Firmino linked the third in the 78th minute with a brilliant back-heel effort from close range.

Fabinho completed his double in the 93rd minute, tossing the ball from a tight angle into the roof of the net as Liverpool recovered from COVID-19 to win over the touchline with manager Juergen Klopp.
