‘Look at Dhanush in Hollywood’: Jeeva says language is no barrier for actors

Jeeva was last seen in the film Varalaru Mukkiyam.

Speaking about the artistes at the Tamil Kalai website launch, Jiiva praised the folk artistes.

Jiiva is one of the most promising actors in the Tamil film industry. He has proved his mettle in films including Nanban, Ki, Coffee with Kadhal and Varalaru Mukkiyam among others. Recently, the 39-year-old attended the launch event of the app Tamil Kalai, which is on a mission to uplift folk artistes by bringing them under its wing. Jeeva gave an impressive speech at the event, emphasizing that art has no language.

While traveling across India for her 2020 romantic drama Gypsy, Jiiva recalled that she encountered several actors during her travels. This made him realize that art is devoid of any language and has the power to transcend all language barriers.

Jeeva appreciated the performance of the folk artistes. “He should be given a big hug,” he said. For the next mission, Jeeva hoped that in the next developmental phase these actors would showcase their talent in films, stage performances and even international events.

Not only Tamil folk artists, but Jeeva gave equal importance to other Indian artists as well. He gave credit to social media for taking the talent of these artists to the masses through the meta platform. This, in turn, can bring fame to artistes, said Jeeva. “A lot of people will get film opportunities and events,” the actor said.

When one of the reporters asked Jeeva whether there is really no language barrier in art and then why he chose the name Tamil Kalai, Jeeva gave a befitting reply.

Citing the example of the 2016 Tamil-language film Tharai Thappattai, Jeeva clarified that the film was not released in Kashmir as it was not considered fit there. Jeeva then pointed to South actor Dhanush who has managed to make a mark in Hollywood. “It was all situational,” he insisted. “Each language has its own specialty. Art has no language,” Jiva concluded.

Dhanush starred in the Russo Brothers action flick The Gray Man, which also starred Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling and Ana de Armas.

In July 2022, Dhanush made headlines when he said that there is “no regional cinema but only national cinema”. This was before he made his Hollywood debut with The Gray Man. At a press conference in Mumbai, he said, “I would appreciate if we were called Indian actors, not North and South actors. The world has shrunk and the lines are blurring.

Jeeva was last seen in the film Varalaru Mukkiyam, which released in December last year. His upcoming projects are not confirmed yet.
