Tension prevailed near the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday when Congress leaders and workers protested against the questioning of a senior party leader. Rahul Gandhi Regarding by Enforcement Directorate (ED) National Herald Case.

News agency ANI shared a video of the protest on its Twitter handle in which Congress Leader Renuka Choudhary is seen holding a policeman by the collar while he was being taken from the spot.

Speaking to News18, Choudhary said that the police had started pushing women in the crowd and they had grabbed the policeman’s shoulder to regain balance.

“The police suddenly started pushing and provoking us. Watch full video. The police was pushing us from behind. We were going back. Suddenly the police started pushing the women. I was pushed from behind… I would have fallen… I was trying to hold my shoulder so that I wouldn’t fall.”

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and party MP A Revanth Reddy, Congress Legislature Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and several others were taken into preventive custody by the police as they headed towards the Raj Bhavan.

The protest led to traffic jam in Khairatabad circle and adjoining areas. A two-wheeler was reportedly set on fire and some protesters were seen boarding a government city bus, while window panes of the bus were allegedly smashed by an agitator.

Rahul GandhiThe 51-year-old has been questioned by the police for three consecutive days since Monday and is to appear before the ED again on Friday at its headquarters at APJ Abdul Kalam Road in central Delhi.

His statement has been recorded over several sessions under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and after Wednesday’s round of questioning, he has spent nearly 30 hours with ED investigators.

The grand old party has termed the Centre’s agency’s action against opposition leaders as a politics of vengeance as its supporters continued to protest on the streets leading to the ED office.

The probe pertains to alleged financial irregularities involving Congress-promoted Young Indian Pvt Ltd, which owns the National Herald. The newspaper is published by Associated Journals Limited (AJL) and is owned by Young Indian.
