Lord Malayappa rides ‘Chinna Shesha Vahanam’

Chinna Shesha vehicle service was performed at Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala on Friday, the second day of the annual Brahmotsavam to be held at ‘Ekantham’ in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

The processional deity of Lord Malayappa Swamy, dressed as Lord Krishna, was seated on top of the golden ‘Chinna Shesha Vahanam’ at the Kalyanatsava mandapam inside the main temple complex. All the rituals regarding vehicle service were performed by Vedic scholars in the presence of senior and junior priests of the hill temple amidst chanting of mantras.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams’ (TTD) SV Higher Vedic Studies Project Officer A. Vibhishan Sharma gave a discourse on the importance of ‘Vahan Sewa’ and ‘Venkatachala Mahatyam’. He discussed in detail the origin of vehicle service and the historical facts related to the temple.

Meanwhile, TTD Executive Officer KS Jawahar Reddy and Chittoor Collector M. Harinarayanan reviewed the arrangements for Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s scheduled visit to the temple town on October 11.

During a meeting, Mr Reddy asked additional executive officers AV Dharma Reddy and JEOs Sada Bhargavi and Veerabrahmaiya to prepare a detailed itinerary for the chief minister.

Dr. Reddy said that the Chief Minister would take part in the inauguration of SV Pediatric Hospital in BIRRD campus. From there, he will proceed to Alipiri to participate in the inauguration of the Go-Mandiram and the newly renovated Alipiri footpath, before motoring for the customary presentation of a silk robe to Lord Venkateswara. The chief minister is scheduled to inaugurate Kannada and Hindi versions of SV Bhakti channel and a Bundi-making complex after offering prayers at the temple the next morning.

Meanwhile, the festivities came to an end in the night with ‘Hans Vahan Seva’.
