Ludhiana baker made Ganesh idol out of 200 kg chocolate

One of the most awaited Indian festivals, Ganesh Chaturthi, calls for some much-needed enjoyment with family and friends. However, at the same time, the environmental impact of such large-scale celebrations cannot be ignored. The use of chemicals, plaster of Paris and other non-biodegradable elements in the making of the sculptures leaves a disastrous mark at the end of the celebration. The good thing is that the awareness about eco-friendly sculptures is gradually increasing and many people are making their own idols from recyclable as well as edible materials. Taking this idea further, a baker from Ludhiana has made a 200 kg idol of God out of Belgian chocolate!

Baker, Harjinder Singh Kukreja said in an Instagram post that it took 10 chefs in 10 days to come up with the edible idol of Lord Ganesha. The noble idea behind the project won our hearts. The idol shall not be immersed in any water body.

Kukreja added in the caption, “Our edible chocolate Lord Ganesha is a sweet reminder of all good things. We plan to immerse in milk and distribute chocolate milk prasad to underprivileged children in slum areas.

This is Kukreja’s sixth year of such an effort. Watch the video here:

In 2019, Kukreja made a similar Ganesh idol from more than 100 kg of chocolate. He had tweeted a picture of himself with the idol, and said that “It took a team of 20 chefs, 10 days and 100+ kg of Belgian chocolates to make this eco-friendly Ganesha.”

Instead of immersing the idol, even then Kukreja dissolved it in milk to make chocolate milk and distributed it to underprivileged children. read more about Here.
