Taking action against illegal sewer connections, Additional Commissioner Rishipal Singh entered the field on Thursday along with the officers of Operation and Maintenance Cell.

They broke 20 illegal sewer connections taken by migrant quarter owners. The officials covered the areas falling under Zone B. On Wednesday also, the officials had disconnected the connections of these migrant quarters.
The officials cut 8 connections in Durga Colony street no 2, 7 connections in New Subhash Nagar street no 2/7 and 5 connections in Bhagat Singh colony. Officials recovered Rs 1.25 lakh from some violators on the spot to regularize their connections.
Officials claimed that due to these illegal connections, the entire sewer system has come to a standstill, so they have started breaking these connections. Also the problem of contamination arises due to illegal connections as the connection is not taken systematically and then people complain of water borne diseases.
