The matter was interrogated on Saturday and during the investigation Gurdeep was allegedly tortured.
Aman’s mother Kamaljit Kaur said that in July 2021, Aman was arrested by the police as he tried to extort money on the owner of a showroom in Jiyaspura area, but in that case the owner of the showroom also attacked Aman with his illegal weapon. Shot was fired.
Aman was shot but the police did not register an FIR against the showroom owner.
We have inquired in this matter, for which I went to Daba police station with Gurdeep on Saturday. However, there the investigating officer harassed Gurdeep and slapped him when Gurdeep refused to withdraw the complaint. Gurdeep could not bear the humiliation and took this extreme step.
He said that before burning himself, Gurdeep had called him and said that he was going to commit suicide. He tried to stop her but to no avail.
Sub-Inspector Davinder Singh, SHO Daba Police The station said, “The allegations are false. No one abused or slapped Gurdeep, though he was drunk and abused the police when he came to the police station. So he has asked her to go back home.”
