Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to meet PM Modi in Delhi tomorrow

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday and discuss various development projects in the state.

Chief Minister Chouhan said on Monday that Madhya Pradesh has become the number one state in providing first dose vaccine to maximum number of people.

Addressing an event, the Chief Minister said, “There is paucity of funds but I have decided that whatever happens, I will ensure that the Jhirnya Irrigation Project, which has an estimated cost of Rs. 1,400 crores have been completed… even though I have to take loans.”

He said that Madhya Pradesh has become the number one state in providing first dose vaccine to maximum number of people.

“A total of 6.11 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Madhya Pradesh till September 26. A total of 86 per cent eligible persons have been given the first dose,” he said.

A state health official said on Tuesday that out of the eligible population of 5.49 crore in Madhya Pradesh, more than 4.77 crore people have been given the dose of COVID-19 vaccine so far.

He said that 12,03,612 of these beneficiaries were vaccinated during a mega vaccination drive in the state on Monday. A total of 4,77,51,168 people have been vaccinated in the state so far, out of which 1,46,71,751 have received both the doses, the official said.

The official said that the state has so far given a total of 6.24 crore doses to the eligible population in the state. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan lauded the efforts of health workers engaged in the vaccination program to dispense more than 12 lakh doses in a day during the mega drive on Monday, an official of the Public Relations Department said.

On Monday, Madhya Pradesh reported eight new cases of COVID-19, taking the number of infections in the state to 7,92,504.

There were no fresh deaths due to the infection on Monday and the toll remained unchanged at 10,518, an official said earlier. He said that the number of recoveries in the state is 7,81,868 with 118 active cases.
