Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced closure of schools in the state after a review meeting. Physical classes for students of classes 1 to 12 in government and private schools will be shifted back to online mode as the Covid-19 cases have spiked once again in the state. Earlier, Chouhan had said that no unnecessary restrictions would be imposed on the state and a final decision would be taken after consultation with stakeholders.

While the board exams are scheduled to be held from February 12, the MPBSE class 10 and 12 pre-boards were to begin from January 20. The pre-board exams have been shifted to take-home mode. The students will be asked to appear for the examination by sitting in their respective homes.

Due to the closure of schools due to the pandemic, the board exams will also be conducted in a new format. This time, MPBSE will conduct the exam as per the new pattern proposed in the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The question paper of both the sections will consist of 40 percent objective type questions, 40 percent subjective and the remaining 20 percent. The questions will be of analytical type. Earlier only 25% questions were objective type. The new exam pattern has been implemented for the academic year 2021-22.

Not only educational institutions but the state has imposed several restrictions to contain the spread of the pandemic, including banning rallies, sports activities with only 50 per cent capacity.
