Magha Gupta Navratri occurs during the Shukla Paksha of the month of Magha, and Ashadha Navratri is celebrated during the month of Ashadha.

Today, the country celebrates Magha Navratri, also known as Gupta Navratri, a nine-day festival honoring the nine forms of Shakti, or Maa Durga. It falls during January or February and is believed to remove obstacles in life. North Indian states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand celebrate the festival with full gusto and enthusiasm.

Magh Gupta Navratri 2023: Dates

As per the Drik Panchang, the festival will begin on January 22 this year and end on January 30.

Magh Gupta Navratri 2023: Auspicious time

Gupta Navratri starts in the month of January. It will be celebrated from January 22 to January 30. The auspicious time of Brahma Muhurta will be from 05:00 AM to 06:30 AM in the nine days while Abhijeet Muhurta time will be between 12:00 PM to Noon. 12:55 p.m.

Magh Gupta Navratri 2023: Puja Method and Mantra

The Puja Vidhaan during Magha Gupta Navratri is the same as during any other Navratri. During Gupta Navratri, the devotees observing the festival observe a fast and worship Goddess Durga both day and night. Other forms of the Goddess are worshiped on different days of Magha Navratri. On the ninth day, people observe a fast till evening and then visit their daughters to wish them good health.

On the first day, also known as Ghatasthapana, an idol of Maa Durga is placed. Devotees cover the idol with red cloth and decorate it with colorful flowers, rice, incense, chunri, bindi, bangles and incense sticks. They also chant Durga Mantra 108 times during the puja. This ritual lasts for nine days from Pratipada to Navami. People keep a strict fast in which they can eat only once after completing the rituals of worship.

Goddess Durga represents feminine power. She is praised for being the destroyer of the wicked. Worshiping the nine forms of the Goddess in Gupta Navratri protects one from bad deeds.
