Nitish Bhardwaj, best known for playing Lord Krishna in BR Chopra’s film Mahabharata, disclosed in an interview Bombay Times That she filed for divorce in 2019. “Yes, I filed for divorce in the Family Court in Mumbai in September 2019. The actor married Smita Gate, an IAS officer, in 2009 and they have twin daughters. The actor was earlier married to Monisha Patil. They separated in 2005, they have two children, a son and a daughter.

He said during the interview, “I am a firm believer in the institution, but I have been unlucky. Generally, the reasons for breaking up a marriage can be endless, sometimes it is due to an unsteady attitude or lack of compassion or It may be the result of arrogance and self-centered thinking. But it is the children who suffer the most when a family breaks up. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that their children are at least collateral damage.”

Speaking about his equation with his daughters, Nitish Bhardwaj said, “I want to reserve my comment whether I am able to meet them or not.”
