Adaptation of a new series of epics Mahabharata: Disney+ is in development at Hotstar, the streaming platform revealed on Friday, September 10, 2022.
The project was announced by Gaurav Banerjee, Head-Content, Disney+ Hotstar and HSM Entertainment Network, Disney Star, during a session at the D23 Expo here.
The show is based on one of the greatest epics of India, Mahabharata:and speaks of the final struggle between ‘Dharma and Adharma’.

“There are over a billion people who know Mahabharata: in some way or the other. Most of them in my country have heard them from their grandparents as children, there are billions more people who are unaware of what they are missing.
“It will be truly a privilege to be able to bring this incredible story to a wider global audience next year,” said Mr. Banerjee at the International Content and Steering Session at the Disney Fan Event.
The show will be produced by Madhu Mantena, MythoverseStudio and Allu Entertainment.

Backed by Dharmatic Entertainment Production, the series stars Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra as producers.
Disney+ Hotstar, Johar’s celebrity talk show K. also working on the eighth season of Offi with Karan.
Produced by Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Anisha Baig, the show is currently in its seventh season.
