Maharashtra: Academic year will start from November 1, decision on physical classes will be taken later. Mumbai News – Times of India

Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister of Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant said on Monday that classroom teaching in colleges cannot start from November 1, when the academic year is about to begin.
Speaking to PTI, Samant said that a decision on online or physical classes would be taken as per the situation at that time, in consultation with district collectors, who also head the respective disaster management committees.
“I have said that the academic year will start from November 1. I have not said that physical classes will start from that day. Taking the risk (of starting offline classes) right now is a big challenge,” the minister said.
“We have to consider the fact that not all eligible beneficiaries have been given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while only 17-18 per cent have received the second dose. If all students had received both doses, we would think Could have started physical classes,” said Samant.
He also said that the state government will file an FIR against the firms if they discriminate between students who have passed out and other jobs during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It is not their (students’) fault that they did not have practicals (due to the pandemic). If any industry refuses to employ such students, an FIR will be lodged,” he said.
Speaking at the upcoming Chipi airport in Sindhudurg, Samant said that the facility will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Uddhav Thackeray On 9th November, the credit should be given to the former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu.
He also said that the inclusion of Narayan Rane, who has a strong influence in the Konkan region in the Narendra Modi government, may have boosted the morale of BJP workers, but it has not demoralized the Shiv Sainiks in the region.
