Cabinet ministers also observed silence for two minutes and paid tribute to the deceased farmers.

Hotel vandalism: Shiv Bhojan Hotel located near the bus stand was vandalized by Shiv Sena workers in Chandrapur. Notably, the hotel provides food at affordable rates to the underprivileged under the Shiv Bhoj Thali (food platter) scheme of the Shiv Sena-led MVA government.

Bandh got good response: The bandh received a good response in Boisar and Vasai in neighboring Thane’s Palghar district. Police said that no untoward incident was reported.

Pune shopkeepers support bandh: Shopkeepers in Pune supported the bandh as all shops in the district remained closed except for essential services.

Market administrator Madhukant Garad said, “The traders of the market had decided to observe the bandh and had informed the farmers in advance.”

Notably, Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association (FRTWA) in Maharashtra protested against the bandh yesterday.

Crowd at railway stations: In Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST- Transport Undertaking of the City Civic Body) buses and several traditional ‘kaali-peeli cabs’ went off the roads, leading to heavy congestion on the roads. suburban railway station For traveling by local trains.

BEST bus services were suspended following incidents of stone pelting at some places.

Damaged Buses: BEST said its buses were damaged in areas such as Dharavi, Mankhurd, Shivaji Nagar, Charkop, Oshiwara, Deonar and near Inorbit Mall.

“The BEST administration has sought police protection and after reviewing the situation, buses will be operated from all depots,” a statement said.

‘Stone pelting is not right’: Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik on Monday said there were reports of stone-pelting in the state and urged people not to indulge themselves in such acts.

The NCP leader said, “There are reports of stone pelting at some places, which is not true. No one should indulge in such activities.”

Security Deployed: According to Mumbai Police, security was deployed at strategic points with 3 companies of SRPF, 500 home guards and 700 personnel from local arms units.

BJP opposes the bandh: Hitting out at the MVA, the BJP on Monday claimed that the three-party government’s concern for farmers was “pure hypocrisy” and it “shut down” by using official machinery.

Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Devendra Fadnavis said that if the MVA government is so concerned about farmers, it should first give relief to the people affected by the unseasonal rains in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of the state.
