Mumbai: Maharashtra Legislative Council director Ramraje Nimbalkar Suggested on Tuesday that the state transport minister should take steps to resolve the strike by the employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Nimbalkar issued the direction after BJP legislators alleged that state Transport Minister Anil Parab had failed to resolve the standoff with the government. msrtc employees.
The employees of MSRTC have been on strike since November last year demanding the merger of the corporation with the state government so that they can get the status and benefits of government employees.
Though the state government has increased the salaries of MSRTC employees, they have refused to accept the hike and demanded merger.
During the discussion, Parab said that a committee constituted to look into the issue had said in its report that the merger of MSRTC with the state government was not possible.
“We are also of the same opinion. We cannot merge the corporation with the state government. We have made several appeals to the employees to return to work. Some have been laid off. If they take back their jobs If they want, they have to submit a written appeal, which they have refused to do,” the minister said.
On this Nimbalkar asked the state government to intervene. “The state government may constitute a committee or invite the employees and hold a joint meeting to resolve the standoff. It has been a long time and we should try to resolve the matter at the earliest.” ”
Parab further said that MRSTC has suffered a loss of Rs 1,740 crore, and 12,207 employees have been suspended from service, while 2,126 have been issued dismissal letters.
