The maid, who lives in Ambernath, hails from Nepal with her husband, a security guard and their four children.
Police said the maid had met the singer in Nepal and the two became friends on Facebook. An official said the 30-year-old maid has some basic education and finds her way onto Facebook and WhatsApp.
Police said after their meeting in Nepal, when the domestic help shifted to Ambernath in 2020, she found singer Rabina Badi on Facebook and the two interacted occasionally. During one such chat, the maid told the singer that her financial condition was bad. The police complaint states that the singer told the domestic help that she is now living in Delhi and has earned Rs 4 crore by selling one of her kidneys. The singer told the domestic help that one can lead a normal life with just one kidney.
Thus Badi tried to persuade Magar by saying that she too could earn a lot by agreeing to sell one of her kidneys, saying that she would first have to pay a few lakhs and then she would be taken abroad and her kidney was harvested. Will go,” said an official.
Police said that to arrange the amount, the domestic help sold him some land in Nepal. “She got lured by the lure of Rs 4 crore and transferred Rs 8 lakh to the account of Arvind Kumar, the live-in partner of the Delhi-based singer,” the official said.
Following this, the singer woman began avoiding phone calls from the domestic help, who wanted to know what was happening about the deal. Eventually, Badi blocked her on Facebook and WhatsApp as well. The domestic help visited Nepal and sought help from local politicians, but to no avail. Bharat Sonar, a social worker from Ambernath, helped them to approach the police.
Madhukar Bhoge, senior inspector of Shivaji Nagar police station, said a team may go to Nepal to nab Badi.
