Maharashtra: Summer vacation for class 1-9 and 11 students from May 2

The Maharashtra government on Monday declared summer vacation for students of classes 1-9 and 11 from May 2 to June 12.

Schools will now reopen on June 13.

Earlier, Pune District Headmasters Association President Harishchandra Gaikwad had mentioned that the state education department should have gone ahead instead of issuing the Gr. school opening Dates of June 7 or 8 instead of June 15 for the new academic session.

Schools in Maharashtra reopened to all in January after the state government declared it safe for children. This decision was taken after daily Covid-19 cases in the state.

Maharashtra on Monday reported 41 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest daily count in nearly two years, taking the total to 78,75,211, while no fresh death due to the infection has been reported in the state, the health department said.

Maharashtra’s positivity rate, or cases detected per 100 tests, was 0.002 per cent.
