Locals in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal on Thursday occupied a stage set up for the Republic Day event, forcing the authorities to cancel the function. These people are protesting for the demand of road in their village.

Many people of Takli village of the district started a hunger strike on Wednesday in front of the sub-divisional office in Uskhed, demanding the construction of a road in their area.
The locals allege that an eight kilometer long road was being constructed to connect their village with Uskhed, but the work stopped midway. They are demanding completion of the road.
In a video shot in Takli village, several students and women were seen sitting on a stage where a cultural program was being held on Thursday.
An official was also seen in the video requesting the photography to be withdrawn and the event to take place.
