Maharashtra to compensate farmers ₹3364 lakh for 2020 crop loss

The Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde approved on 16 July 3364.06 lakh disbursed to farmers who have suffered crop damage due to heavy rains between June and October 2020.

The Government Resolution (GR) issued on July 15 has so far stated 4,48,995.42 lakhs have been distributed as compensation, but there were complaints that assistance was not given for crop loss.

Earlier on Tuesday, CM Shinde asked the administration to increase the scope for farmers so that they can get loans under incentive schemes. He was of the view that certain clauses under the scheme were too strict and should be relaxed for the welfare of the farmers.

As per the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Crop Loan Scheme, farmers who take crop loans from banks and replay them on time will be awarded incentive money. 50,000 The government aims to benefit about 20 lakh farmers from this scheme.

Earlier the Uddhav Thackeray government had disbursed and allocated the amount under the scheme from July 1. 10,000 crore budget for this.

The farmers who have received compensation for crop loss due to floods in the financial year 2018-19 are not eligible for the scheme to get incentives. However, those who took and repaid loans between 2017 and 2020 are eligible to get the incentive, the government said.
