Mahindra Electric has announced that its vehicles have crossed 400 million electric kilometers which is equivalent to saving over 40,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions. The company also says that it will need to plant 18.50 lakh trees on the earth to save CO2 emissions and the number is likely to increase after the sale of its new EVs in the market. Last week, Mahindra & Mahindra released the first teaser for its new electric SUV line-up that will arrive in the latter half of the decade.

The sales of Mahindra eXUV300 will start by the end of this financial year.

Earlier in 2021, Mahindra had announced that it would launch 16 electric vehicles in India by the end of this decade. The company has earmarked an investment of Rs 3,000 crore, and out of these 16 EVs, 8 will be electric SUVs. The company also mentioned that out of 8 electric SUVs, 4 from the company’s existing portfolio will transition to become all-electric models, while the rest will be all-new electric SUVs.

However, the first SUV will be launched early next financial year and yes it will be the makeover XUV300. The XUV300 EV will be launched in the third or fourth quarter of FY23 followed by other new EVs in the pipeline. The eXUV300 was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and we got a glimpse of what the car would look like. In fact, the company at the time said that the XUV300 electric was powered by an electric motor that drove the front wheels and probably produced 130 bhp. Power to the motor will be provided by a 40 kWh battery pack that is capable of delivering a range of over 300 km on a single charge.
