Major News Events in Karnataka on May 13, 2022

1. Organizing an event for Janata Dal (Secular) mark the result of its Janata Jaldhara programme, a campaign to express commitment to complete pending irrigation projects across the state. Party patriarch HD Deve Gowda and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy will attend the event near Nelamangala.

2. With the Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha elections, activity is picking up in all parties. BJP’s Karnataka in-charge Arun Singh is in Bengaluru for discussion party plans with state leaders.

3. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will inaugurate the Arivu program for selected people under various schemes under Dr. BR Ambedkar Development Corporation.

4. Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Leather Industries Development Corporation Limited will organize State Level Artisans Conference and Leather Handicrafts Exhibition-cum-Sale for the next five days. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai today inaugurated the program near Tripura Vasini, Palace Ground, Mahakari Circle.

6. Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying L. Murugan will participate in the 4th World Madiga Day celebrations.

7. Family Planning Association of India, Bengaluru Branch, will organize a press meet to understand the issues, needs of the LGBT community and to provide them a platform to voice their concerns and visibility through social media/online platforms. The state cabinet has approved a Rs 165 crore project for construction of bridge cum barrage at three locations on river Swarna in Udupi district. Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat says to irrigate 1,000 hectares of agricultural land to prevent salt water infiltration into the river.
