Mallikarjun Kharge has been elected as the new President of Congress. The counting of votes for the October 17 election took place on Wednesday. Kharge got over 7,897 votes while his rival Shashi Tharoor got around 1,000 votes. Kharge will take charge after Diwali in the presence of senior leaders at a program at the Congress headquarters.
