Mamata Banerjee blames BJP for attack on North Bengal police station

Mamta Banerjee said, ‘BJP is doing complete hooliganism in Bengal.’

Kolkata:

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has blamed the state’s opposition BJP for the violence in Kaliaganj in North Bengal, from where a video of policemen being thrashed has gone viral. A mob set fire to a police station in Kaliaganj district on Tuesday during a protest over the death of a teenager. A few days ago, the region witnessed massive protests over the issue.

Initially it was reported that the teenager was raped and murdered, leading to huge anger in the area. Shubhendu Adhikari of Bengal BJP tweeted:

The Chief Minister said that the violence that took place after this was the responsibility of the BJP. “The BJP just brought people from Bihar,” he said, vandalizing the police station and setting it on fire. The Chief Minister said, “They entered the police station with firearms, they looted the villagers and they brutally beat up the police as well.”

“I would not say that the incident (the death of the teen) was planned. Sometimes certain things happen… It is an unfortunate incident and we are with the family. But what happened after that – definitely it The plan was made.BJP is doing full hooliganism in Bengal as they are getting full support from Delhi.

Regarding the death of the teenager, he said that a lot of information has been received. Ms. Banerjee said, “It is not clear whether it is a case of suicide. The doctors said that she had consumed poison. The police have videographed the postmortem and there is also the postmortem report. So the police will take strict action.”

State BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar said the chief minister had “lost control” of the administration.

Mazumdar said, “People are beating police in Kaliaganj. This is the situation. We have also received videos. We are not sharing them publicly because there are so many problems in this state.”

“Unfortunate thing is that in this state, an incident happened in Kaliganj. First there was an incident in Kaliachak in Malda and then, we are seeing incidents in Malda… This is not how the state administration can run and the Chief Minister has completely lost control,” he said.
