The West Bengal Congress slammed the picture of Jawaharlal Nehru among other notable freedom fighters of India for being ‘objective’ at Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
WB Congress retweeted a picture of a child sketching Nehru’s first speech as the first Prime Minister of India. Her father wrote, “My daughter chose to remind myself of some basic history lessons by drawing the first Independence Day moment!”

Ahead of the 75th Independence Day, the state Congress unit took a dig at the West Bengal Chief Minister over a collage of national heroes. The collage made independent India’s first prime minister and former Congress president Jawaharlal Nehru out of it.

As per reports, all prominent members of TMC including CM Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee use the image as their display picture.

At the same time, another user thought it wrong to include Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. “Mamata Banerjee as Bengal CM really made a big mistake here. What is this Patel, a staunch supporter of Partition, doing here?” He wrote. “Madam, please remove that person from this image immediately and re-upload it. It hurts the sentiments of all Bengalis hurt by Partition.”
Veteran Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had earlier slammed Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai except Nehru In a newspaper advertisement for the Har Ghar Tricolor campaign.
The advertisement included a list of liberation fighters, which was published in a newspaper in Karnataka, although Jawaharlal Nehru was omitted. In response, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh accused the Karnataka chief minister of “insulting” his father, Nehru supporter SR Bommai.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on August 14 alleged that the BJP was trying to weaken the TMC in Bengal.
The TMC supremo roared, “Have you seen the Royal Bengal Tiger? Come and see.”

“They want to stop us the way they have done with some other parties to ensure that no opposition force is created in the country,” Banerjee said.
He said that not only political persons but also officials are being threatened through summons.
“Eight officers have been called to Delhi,” he said. He said that his government will stand with him.
