Mamta Banerjee says rioters will not be spared

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted on 4 April that she would not let the rioters go unpunished and would take strict action against them.

Addressing a rally in Purba Medinipur district, Mr Banerjee alleged that the BJP was maligning the name of Lord Ram by organizing Violence during Ram Navami procession,

Clashes were reported in Hooghly and Howrah districts during Ram Navami processions in the last few days.

‘BJP is behind the violence in Hooghly and Howrah. were hired hooligansSpreading violence in Bengal from other states, which is not in our culture. They are defaming Hinduism by pitting one community against another. But rioters don’t have any religion, they are just political goons. I appeal to all to maintain calm.”

Hitting out at Union Home Minister Amit Shah without naming him, he said, “BJP said that if the party comes to power in Bihar, it will hang the rioters upside down, then why aren’t they doing it to themselves hooligans Who is spreading unrest in Bengal? charity begins at home.”

Mr Shah made the remarks during a recent public rally in Bihar’s Nawada district, which also Saw communal riots during Ram Navami.

Targeting the CPI(M), he alleged that ‘Bam’ (Left) and ‘Ram’ (BJP) have joined hands against the TMC.
