Man arrested for slapping, abusing security guard and lift operator in Gurugram Society. Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURUGRAM: A man was arrested on Monday for repeatedly slapping and abusing a security guard of his upscale residential society and a lift operator in Sector 50 here after being trapped inside a lift.
He said the man, identified as businessman Varun Nath (39), allegedly threatened to kill Uttar Pradesh guard Ashok Kumar and the lift operator.

A purported video of the incident went viral on social media.
In the video, as the lift operator opens the elevator doors, Nath walks out, drops his bag on the floor and starts slapping Kumar, who is trying to reason with him. Every time Nath slapped Kumar, he took a few steps back.
Nath then turns to the lift operator and slaps him before walking back aggressively towards Kumar.
Later the security guards of the society gathered at its gate and started dharna. Police said that after receiving information about the incident, a police team led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar, SHO of Sector 50 police station reached the spot.
He said Kumar has filed a complaint in the matter.
According to the complaint, Nath got stuck inside a lift in Tower 12 at around 7:20 am and informed Kumar through an intercom. Police said that after coming out of the lift, the accused started abusing her and slapped her several times.
He also slapped the lift operator and threatened to kill him and Kumar.
Virendra Vij, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) said, “Soon after receiving the complaint in this matter, we registered a case. The accused has been arrested and is being questioned.”
Nath has been booked under sections 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
