Man disguised as old woman smears cake on the Mona Lisa in the Louvre

People at the Louvre Museum in Paris were stunned on Sunday when a man disguised as an old woman stood up from his wheelchair and caked a Mona Lisa painting. Photos and videos showing the iconic painting Berber with cake cream went viral on social media. However, the person was not able to stain the painting as the cake was smashed on the bulletproof glass protecting the artwork. A man dressed as an old woman entered the museum in a wheelchair. He also wore a wig and mingled with the crowd. As Marca reports, while onlookers saw Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous artwork, the man jumped out of a wheelchair and threw a cake at the painting.

With protective glass between the painting and the visitors, the cake ended up colliding with the glass and there was no damage to the artwork. According to eyewitnesses, the miscreant spread the cake over the glass and also sprinkled rose petals on the ground while shocked people were watching it.

After this the security personnel reached the spot and caught the youth. In a video uploaded on Twitter, the man can be seen being carried in a wheelchair. According to a report in Pledge Times, the man addressed the visitors in French while leaving the complex, saying “Some people are trying to destroy the earth, think about the earth”.

As the drama unfolded, the audience made sure to capture the moment with their cameras. One video shows art lovers holding their phones and clicking pictures of stained glass. Once the man was removed, security cleared the cake cream from the panel.

Reportedly, the masterpiece is on display inside the Salle des tats rooms on level one of the Denon wing, the most inaccessible room in the Louvre Museum.
