Abdul Gayoom, 75, a resident of Avavai Nagar in Laspet, died of electrocution while trying to hoist the national flag at his house on Sunday morning. The flag post came in contact with a live fire which caused it to be electrocuted. He was immediately taken to JIPMER. But he died in hospital on Sunday night, police said.
