A letter went viral on Wednesday in which a viewer asked a private television channel to stop telecasting Amitabh Bachchan starrer family drama Sooryavansham (1999), which is shown almost every Sunday.
Amitabh Bachchan’s fans may not have been amused by the letter, but the sender did not hold back when it came to expressing his thoughts clearly and eloquently in Hindi.
The letter read, “Thanks to your channel, me and my family now know Hira Thakur (played by Big B in the film) and her family (Radha, Gauri) as we know our own kin. We can memorize all the dialogues. I want to ask how many more times you (channel) will telecast this movie? How many times do they plan to revisit this film? If my mental peace and sanity are affected by repeated showing of the same film then who will take the responsibility? I humbly request you to redress my grievance on priority basis.
The sender did not disclose any personal details and only referred to himself as ‘Suryavansham-Peerit’ (persecuted by Suryavansham).
The letter was posted at the private channel’s Mumbai office with a query, to which the sender said he hoped to receive a reply under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
