Man killed by demolishing old building Surat News – Times of India

Surat: A 30-year-old man, who demolished a three-storey dilapidated building in Parle Point area, died after falling from the third floor. The fire brigade took out the body of laborer Sandeep Gavit from the rubble. and was taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.
A team of laborers was demolishing the dilapidated Torna Apartment, which used to be the staff quarters for a nationalized bank. Gavit was among the laborers on the third floor when a part of the floor on which he was standing collapsed. A part of the wall also fell on the victim, causing her death. The deceased was a resident of Borpara village of Navapur in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra.
The fire brigade got a call around 12.45 pm after which three teams of fire brigade arrived. Around 15 fire brigade personnel joined the rescue operation to ensure that no other labor is hurt.
“All were casual laborers hired by a contractor. Work was going on for the past few days and the victim had joined on Thursday. Another worker suffered minor injuries.
