Man lynched in Golden Temple

According to the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex body for the management of gurdwaras, one person died after being thrashed by devotees when they entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Saturday.

In an official statement, SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami said an attempt was made by a man to cross the security grill at “Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib” (Golden Temple), while the daily ‘Rehras Sahib’ (evening prayer) The lesson was going on.

Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal expressed “shock and disbelief” over the incident and alleged a deep conspiracy.

In a statement, Mr Badal said that it is impossible to believe that this could be an act of just one person and there is clearly a deep rooted behind it.

Hitting out at the state government, Mr Badal said that there are strong indications that such a conspiracy is being hatched. “The shocking incident of gutkha packets being thrown in the holy lake that day happened [around the Golden Temple], But no one has done or taken any step to prevent such heinous crime from happening. What are the intelligence agencies doing,” he asked.
